Telephone calls
Our staff has been trained to answer many of your questions. If our staff member is unable to respond to your question appropriately, your question will be directed to the physician. The physician will answer your question as soon as he/she is available. You will have a response to your question within 24 hours. However, it is not our practice to interrupt the physician when he/she is with a patient for non-emergencies.
Financial Policy
Thank you for choosing Urgent Medical Care as your healthcare provider. We are committed to providing you and your family with the best medical care. Please understand that payment of your bill is considered a part of your treatment. As you know, the cost of healthcare is rising. In order to keep the costs reasonable, our policy is to receive payment at the time of your visit.
The following is a statement of our Financial Policy.
Payment Methods
We accept cash, check, credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover).
Insurance
Currently, we accept several major insurances. However, we do require that all co-payments, co-insurances and deductibles be paid at the time of service.
When we are a participating provider with your insurance plan, we will immediately file your office visit with your insurance plan. You will be responsible for any amount your insurance plan states is due from the patient.
Insurance Plans in which we are NOT a participating provider or if you do not have insurance coverage
In these cases, you are considered a “self-pay” patient. Payment is due in full at the time service is rendered. If we are not a participating provider with your health plan, you will need to file your office visit with your insurance. If you do have financial constraints, payment arrangements can be made prior to your actual visit. Do not let the lack of health insurance deter you from seeking medical attention at our practice.
Refunds
Overpayments will be refunded to the appropriate party, normally the insurance company or guarantor. Patients’ refunds will not be processed until all active or past due accounts are paid in full. Refunds of less than $5.00 will not be issued unless specifically requested.
Test Results
Emergency Test: Patient will be informed of all emergency test results done in the office.
Non-Emergency laboratory services that are obtained and/or performed in our office are sent to an outside facility where the test will actually be completed. In most cases, the results are returned to our office within 48 hours. It is our policy to report all (positive or negative) results to our patients. A member of our staff will contact only the patient with the results. It is not our policy to leave test results on any form of voice mail. Unless you have been told that a specific test’s results may take longer, call our office if you have not received the results of your test after 72 hours.
Please note… some of the results, depending on the test, are not allowed to be given over the telephone. In these cases, you will be asked to come in and the physician will discuss the results and treatment plan.
Also some patient will need to be rechecked during this period if labrotary results are abnormal.
After Hours Policy
We always want to be available to our patients. There is a physician on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you should need assistance after our office hours, please call the office number (770)455-7300 and you will be transferred to the physician on call. If you do not get a returned call within 40 minutes please try again.
Although the physician is always available, please reserve after hours and weekend calls for urgent concerns and situations. Routine concerns and questions are better addressed during office hours when the physician has access to your medical record.
